In New Jersey, the penalties for speeding are severe. In addition to a loss of license and heavy fines, persons convicted of speeding may have points assessed to their driving record by New Jersey Motor Vehicle Services. Under N.J.S.A. § 39:4-115, it is unlawful to make a turn at an intersection where 1) the traffic control signal (i.e. – stop light) is red or otherwise represents “stop” and 2) an official sign of the State, Municipality, or County prohibiting the turn is present. A person convicted for this offense faces a fine of $200 and 3 points being assessed to your driving record by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Services.
In New Jersey, it is unlawful to drive without automobile insurance. Failure to maintain automobile insurance can result in severe penalties. Under N.J.S.A. § 39:6B-2, the first conviction for driving without insurance will result in a one year license suspension. Additionally, any subsequent conviction for driving without insurance will result in a two year suspension and mandatory imprisonment.
