Retired Judge Stephanie Ann Mitterhoff focuses her practice on resolving personal injury and other disputes. At the time of her retirement on November 1, 2023, Judge Mitterhoff had served in the New Jersey Superior Court between 2014 and 2018 as a civil trial judge, where she presided over numerous civil trials, both jury and non-jury. In addition, she managed cases that dealt with issues ranging from consumer fraud, insurance coverage, employment/labor disputes, medical malpractice, and personal injury. In 2018, she was elevated to the Appellate Division, where she served until her retirement.
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Mitterhoff was a partner at Bramnick, Rodriguez, Grabas, Arnold & Mangan, LLC, a law firm in Scotch Plains. In the fifteen years she was affiliated with the firm, Mitterhoff concentrated her practice on a wide variety of personal injury matters, including premises liability, recreational accidents, automobile accidents, professional malpractice, and product liability. Mitterhoff was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil trial attorney.
In the course of her private practice, Mitterhoff also handled numerous appellate matters, including the published decisions in Shankman v. State of New Jersey, 184 N.J. 187 (2005), Dalessio v. Gallagher, 414 N.J. Super. 18 (App. Div. 2010), and La Russa v. Four Points at Sheraton Hotel, 360 N.J. Super. 156 (App. Div. 2003).
Judge Mitterhoff attended Rutgers University School of Law and thereafter clerked for Justice Gary S. Stein of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
