Morristown Marijuana Possession Lawyer

At Bramnick, Rodriguez, Mitterhoff, Grabas & Woodruff, our criminal defense attorneys regularly represent clients with marijuana possession charges in Morristown and throughout New Jersey. Several of our criminal defense attorneys are former prosecutors. Robert Rowbotham, II is a former Deputy Attorney General for the State Attorney General's Office of New Jersey in the Criminal Division. Casey Woodruff has tried cases in before the State Supreme Court of New Jersey. Gary Grabas is a former Morris County Prosecutor.

If you or a loved one have been charged with possession of marijuana, it is important to consult with an experienced New Jersey marijuana possession lawyer. A "Simple" marijuana possession conviction may result in:

  • Fines up to $1,000;
  • Suspended license for a period of time ranging from 6 months to 2 years;
  • Up to 6 months imprisonment.

Penalties are even more severe when the prosecution can prove that the individual charged was in a school zone, and/or had the intent to sell or distribute. Because New Jersey is such a highly populated state, it is not uncommon for charges of possession to be coupled with possession in a school zone.

If the amount of marijuana in question amounts to less than 50 grams, the individual will be charged with "simple" possession. Simple possession charges are considered a disorderly persons offense, and are handled in Morristown Municipal Court. The Morristown Municipal Court is located at 200 South Street in Morristown. The Honorable Michael J. Noonan presides over the Court. Mary Ann Dillon is the Court Administrator.
