As set forth under N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10, possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana is considered a disorderly persons offense and will be handled at the Dunellen Municipal Court. An amount greater than 50 grams will be sent to Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick. A person convicted of marijuana possession in New Jersey can expect severe penalties.
